A Commotion of Line and Shape

In the highly worked etchings, my gestural lines seek to carve out an abstruse atmosphere, experimenting with the solidity and void through a commotion of line and shape. I want the etching to present both a manic, linear force and also a delicate tumble of line. By colliding fluid passages with fast, gritty marks comes the creation of both brooding and playful spaces. Working with tightly knit, tangled lines and formations I reflect on a distinct place, time, and event, but I also try to incorporate voids of space that allow certain lines and specifics to dissolve while keeping traces of the process.
